  1. I had tried to post a comment last week stating that I believed that all General Bail Agents should attend the Oct. 20th. meeting with the new Board. To enable the GA’s to see for themselves what the meeting was about and to give them a chance to research and speak to the board in a more effective manner.

Even though I live in south central Missouri, I attended the meeting and was very glad that I did. Hopefully more General Agents will attend the next one in Chesterfield MO this Tuesday.

I understand the burden of time Angela Park puts into this online forum, but for a while I had assumed the BlogSpot had been discontinued. I was very pleased to see her post concerning the meetings. But I was truly surprised to see that Angela is also a member of the new board, it was a pleasant revelation, as I was completely in the dark about the board and what information they are seeking. I did notice that several Board members taking some notes, Angela was the only one taking extensive notes. I know that we can trust her decisions will be fair to all.

The panel members did ask a lot of questions to the speakers, although it seemed one panel member had leading questions that made me feel that some of the decisions may have been already decided. I hope this is not the case.

A lot of agents in the bail industry look to the Missouri bondsman blog for information, I encourage you, Angela to post information on the first bail bond industry research meeting in Lee’s Summit and help encourage everyone to attend every meeting. Depending on what part of the State you live in, there are different needs, opinions, ideas and concerns; it is very enlightening to hear them all.

I believe more General Agents should be truly involved with the meetings; there was a decent turn out in Lee’s Summit.
Maybe the D.F.I.P. should have more forums to enable everyone to “put everything on the table” so to speak. I was somewhat troubled in the direction of the meeting due to some of the bail agents attending were expressing concerns about localized problems, looking at the big picture they need to understand the this board can or may recommend changes to the legislature that will endanger their livelihood. This is a great chance to speak out.

It’s rare for agents to find a reason to get together; it is a great opportunity to network with like and unlike thinkers. The GA’s need to stay informed to better understand these board members, who might make decisions that may or not put you out of business.

    Thank you,

    Ben Hilton
